Why I Won't Reveal My Baby's Face - Tiwa Savage's Interview With Genevieve is Epic!

Multi-award winning sensational singer, Tiwa Savage gets refreshingly real in the November 2015 issue of Genevieve Magazine where she opens up about dealing with her difficult pregnancy, life after having her baby and so much more.

 

 

 

 

 

It is a great opportunity for new mothers and aspiring mothers to get some insight into pregnancy. It is really eye-opening and we love how honest Tiwa Savage was.

 

Below are some excerpts from her interview;

 

On her pregnancy experience: 

It was very difficult. Yet, a lot of people did not see that side of it. While I was pregnant, I still had to put my artiste face on! I had to work, perform and attend events, but behind closed doors, the people close to me; my husband, my mum and the label, saw the struggle. In fact, before I came on stage, at the event where I revealed I was pregnant, I had just been throwing up in the car and I threw up for the whole 9 months! I also had pre-eclampsia towards the end of the pregnancy. It was a very tough pregnancy.

 

 

On motherhood so far:

I’m going to be as candid as I can be and Genevieve is the only press I’ve ever told. They say you bond instantly with your baby but I didn’t have that instant connection. I was in a 20 hour labour and just when I was about to push him out, his heart rate dropped, so there was a lot of panic in the room and we were all in tears. Then, when he eventually came out, everyone screamed “congratulations” and they had to put him on my chest to bond. Instead, when they did, I said “He is beautiful, but can I sleep for just one hour?”

 

Thereafter, I was so overwhelmed, that for a week after delivery, I would cry every day. And I don’t know why that happened. The midwives thought I was suffering from depression but I guess a lot of first-time mums have felt that way. I think it is the overwhelming feeling of being responsible for another human being. Now, life is no longer a joke. I cannot do just anything I want. Yet, on the other hand, I am very protective of him. Being a mother has made me like a lioness, and I’m ready to bite anyone’s head off over him.

 

On not revealing her baby’s face:

Well that’s his dad’s decision. Every mother wants everyone to see the picture of her baby. I want everyone to see how cute he is but I understand my husband’s perspective too. He is the head of the hose so I have to respect his wishes. Eventually we will reveal his face but for now he wants only close family and friends to have the special moment to bond and not share it with the world yet.

 

 

On her husband and the baby:

Oh my goodness! He was so excited! I think he was even more excited than I was while I was pregnant. Say for instance, we have a disagreement and I go downstairs to the living room, he’d ask me to come back upstairs because he wants to speak to his baby in my belly. And then, he would lay his head on my stomach, and the baby would move and kick every single time Tunji did that. There was an instant bond from the beginning. Tunji has also been very helpful. He stays up to baby sit when I’m sleeping. He changes diapers, makes his food and is very hands-on with the baby.

 

On not being promiscuous:

Even if I was not a Christian, I was never that type of girl. I was a tomboy. My mum used to think I would be gay. I am the only girl amongst 4 siblings so I used to wear trousers to feel like I was part of the boys. I never waxed my eyebrows and I hated high heels, which I still hate till today. I was never into boys which is probably why my husband has full confidence that the big men flashing money in my face won’t faze me.

Oshiomhole is on a revenge mission against me - Okonjo-Iweala

Former finance minister and co-ordinating minister of the economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has blasted Adams Oshiomhole accusing him of trying to implicate her in the arms deal scandal.

Former minister of finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has asked the federal government to call the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, to order, saying Mr. Oshiomhole is seeking how to link her to the $2.1 billion arms probe.

Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala said she had “absolutely nothing” to do with the arms issue.

Mr. Oshiomhole was quoted Wednesday by Leadership newspaper as saying the immediate past finance minister, and former President Goodluck Jonathan, should also be prosecuted as they gave approval for funds to be released.

However, according to Premium Times, Mrs Okonjo-Iweala, in an emailed statement signed by her spokesperson, Paul Nwabuiku, said that it is an abuse of public office, the judicial process and her human rights for Governor Oshiomhole “whom she stopped from taking a highly suspicious N15 billion loan to make false allegations against her while hiding behind the constitutional immunity granted state governors”.

The former minister said: “As recently confirmed by the Debt Management Office, professional analysis showed that Oshiomhole’s loan request which was based on using low interest World Bank loan to offset high interest commercial loans would have left Edo state with a heavy debt burden and the state would have found it very difficult to pay back,”

She emphasized that it was unconscionable for the governor to embark on a “campaign of lies against her because she thwarted his dubious loan request”.

She described the governor’s unsubstantiated allegations as a “cynical personalization of the anti-corruption campaign to achieve ignoble objectives”.

According to her spokesperson: “Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala therefore put Mr. Oshiomhole and his ilk on notice that she has briefed her lawyers and that she is ready to explore all legal means, local and international, to defend her name against corrupt and compromised persons,

“It has become a pattern of behaviour that each time Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is internationally recognized, Governor Oshiomhole and his cohorts embark on a cynical and devious ploy of trying to pull her down locally.

“Just last night, December 1, Okonjo-Iweala was honoured at a high profile event attended by Vice President Joe Biden and former President Bill Clinton. Okonjo Iweala was honoured alongside Michael Bloomberg, Bill and Melinda Gates and Mo Ibrahim for their contributions to global development and humanity.

“Gov. Oshiomhole and his cohorts should realize that their ill-motivated attempts to taint Dr Okonjo Iweala’s reputation will never succeed!”

 A set of twin babies conjoined at the lower abdomen have undergone a successful surgery that saw both separated with their organs intact. 

 

 

 

Twin sisters Mannat and Jannat were born conjoined at the lower chest and abdomen, a condition known medically as omphalopagus and had a combined weight of just 6.6 lbs.

 

The babies were delivered at a private hospital in Barara, a town in Ambala district, near Chandigarh, on August 27. They were then transferred to a larger hospital - Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) - for specialist treatment.

 

Dr Ravi Kanojia, associate professor at the department of paediatric surgery, said:  "This is a rare case scenario and a surgeon would be fortunate to see a couple of cases in his or her lifetime."

 

The twins shared a liver but other vital organs were separate. A 30-member team worked for eight hours to separate the twins, ensuring each baby had enought of the vital organ to live a normal life, on November 23.

 

The twins' father, Mohammad Saleem, a labourer who earns only £4 a day and so could not afford basic treatment for his daughters hailed the dedication of medical staff at PGIMER.

 

His wife, Sonia, said: "We have been worried about our children for the last three months but God answered our prayers."

I Used to Live Under Bridges in Lagos, Begging for Food - Actor Ramsey Nouah Reveals

Nollywood actor, Ramsey Noah, has spoken on his experiences growing up, including having to live under bridges and beg for food in Lagos.  

 

 

Veteran Nollywood actor, Ramsey Nouah, has said his experience growing up before he got to stardom was a really painful and distressing one as he has tasted core poverty.

Nouah who is widely known as the Nollywood ‘lover boy’ said his journey to stardom proves that there is no shortcut to success but through hard work and determination.

In a chat with Stargist, the handsome actor recalled how he once lived under the bridge growing up with his mother.
 

The father of two said, “I lived on the streets and in a store which could accommodate a mat with my mother. My mother and I squeezed ourselves in that mat.

“Those were the times when things got really bad for my mother and I and we had nothing. It was so bad that we didn’t have a home to live in. We didn’t even have a cup to drink water, talk more of a stove to cook on. My mother had to borrow, beg and stuff like that.

“Those moments, those terrible moments we had nothing and we were living off people. People were just helping us out. There were times we didn’t have food to eat three or four days. You haven’t eaten and your stomach is rumbling but you don’t have any place to go.

“It was unfortunate that there were no records so that we can have memories we could play back now. To me, I am so extremely grateful that I went through it. At that time, I hated everybody around me. In fact, I used to question why God was doing this to me. But I think God knew that I needed this for my future.

 

“These were moments when I was young. I didn’t realise the gravity of poverty we were in.”

Sugabelly Vs Mustapha Audu: Eyewitness Who Claims to Have Video Evidence Comes Out in Defence of Rape Victim

An anonymous Twitter user currently hiding his identity has come out in the defense of alleged rape victim, Sugabelly with video evidence.

We have been following the drama of what can perhaps be described as the biggest rape scandal of the decade, between US based blogger @sugabelly, whose real name is Lotanna Odunze-Igwe, and Mustapha Audu, son of the recently deceased ex-governor of Kogi state, Abubakar Audu.

 

It should be noted that former Nigerian minister, Oby Ezekwesili has thrown her support behind Sugabelly.

As the drama continues with accusations of rape, physical and mental torture, and counter-accusations of obsession and blackmail from both parties, an eye witness has come out to corroborate some of Sugabelly's version of the events.

The twitter user with the username @urshitisout in a series of tweets accused Mohammed Audu and his friend Emma as being serial rapists and ruthless woman beaters. The user also claims to be in possession of videos of the duo molesting a different lady, not sugabelly this time.

Revealed: Why EFCC Arrested AIT Boss, Raymond Dokpesi Over $2.2 Billion Deal

A close source from EFCC has revealed that AIT Boss, Raymond Dokpesi was arrested after investigators established that he received some money from the office of the then NSA, Sambo Dasuki, 'without any clear reason.'

 

 

 

 

Yesterday, we reported it here that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested the founder of Africa Independent Television (AIT), Raymond Dokpesi, in connection with the ongoing investigation into arms procurement by the office of the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki. 

 

It was learnt the he was arrested at his Abuja home by a team of detectives and then taken to the commission’s headquarters where he is currently being interrogated.

 

Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesperson for the EFCC, who confirmed the arrest of the PDP politician declined to give further details.

 

"All I can say is that some arrests were made including the two names you mentioned. But investigations are still on and there is nothing more to tell you at this point."

 

However, a source at the commission told Premium Times that Dokpesi was arrested after investigators established that he received some money from the office of the then NSA, Sambo Dasuki, 'without any clear reason.'

 

"Chief Dokpesi received N2.1 Billion from the NSA’s office but investigators cannot see any clear reason for the payment," he said.

 

The source said investigators were 'suspicious that the money was passed to him as payment for the damaging documentaries and campaigns his station ran on Buhari, Tinubu and Amaechi.'

 

"They believe the funds were budgeted for arms procurement but was diverted to Dokpesi."

Kogi State Gubernatorial Election Candidate Suspended

The gubernatorial candidate contesting on the platform of Democratic People’s Congress (DPC), Hon. Philip Ezekiel Koleola was suspended on Tuesday, December 1, for alleged anti-party activities.

 

The candidate was suspended by the party's National Working Committee, Leadership reports.

 

 The NWC decision was made known in a statement issued and signed by the party’s national chairman, Rev. Olusegun Peters, in Abuja.

 

The suspension was a reaction to the petition received from the state chapter of the party against the flag bearer.

 

The chairman said following the huge anti-party activities allegedly committed by the governorship candidate, Hon. Koleola, the NWC of the party had to suspend him indefinitely.

 

“A disciplinary Committee will be set up to look into his anti-party activities during the governorship election in the state, and purported decision to go to court in collaboration with the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Idris Wada to challenge INEC directive to All Progressives Congress to substitute the late Abubakar Audu,” the statement read in part.
