President Muhammadu Buhari has spent more than 40 days in trips to different parts of the world since he was sworn in on May 29, 2015, according to SaharaReporters.

 

The president’s frequent foreign trips have come under scrutiny and criticisms as Nigeria faces myriad crises, from intractable fuel shortages to terrorist assaults in the country’s northeast.
 

An audit of Mr. Buhari’s itinerary by a team of reporters discovered that the Nigerian president has traveled to Chad, Germany, France, Ghana, India, Iran, South Africa, Cameroon, Iran, and twice to the United States of America.

His frequent trips have been deemed too expensive for the Nigerian state considering the economic crisis faced in Nigeria today that sees a dwindling federal allocation to the states.

By contrast, Mr. Buhari has made very few official trips within Nigeria. Research indicates that President Buhari has made official trips to a relatively few number of states, including Cross Rivers, Kaduna and Adamawa states. The president also visited Ogun State just yesterday to attend the burial of Mrs. Hannah I.D. Awolowo, wife of the late Nigerian political leader, Obafemi Awolowo.

In addition to visiting his home state of Katsina, Mr. Buhari has also recently visited Kebbi State recently where he launched a N20 billion ‘Anchor Borrowers’ program initiated by the Central Bank of Nigeria for rice farmers across the country.

Meanwhile, Mr. Buhari is set to travel for another four days starting from tomorrow to attend the Commonwealth Heads of State meeting in Malta as well as a short visit to Paris for another conference.

14 years old girl raped to topor by 60 years old Landlord in Lagos

 

 Here is a story that depicts how petty and wicked some elderly people can be. It happened in Fadeyi area of Lagos.

 

Racheal (pseudonym) gave residents a scare after she collapsed in the passage of her parents’ rented apartment in the Fadeyi area of Lagos State, according to the Punch.

It was gathered that the 14-year-old girl almost died when she passed out a few minutes after being allegedly raped by her parents’ landlord, identified only as Christopher. The prompt response of residents of Fasanya Street, where the incident happened, however, averted a tragedy.

A correspondent learnt that among those who came to her aid was Christopher, who pretended as if nothing happened between them. However, the landlord was said to have been arrested by policemen from the Alakara division after the victim confessed to her parents.

Racheal, an indigene of Ugelu, Delta State, told Reporters that her ordeal started the day she ran an errand for the landlord, who hails from Imo State, while her mother was away from home.

She said, “He has raped me three times. The first time was late last year when he asked me to buy him N10 sachet water. I bought the item and took it to his room, but he locked the door and pushed me to the bed. He pulled off my pants and I shouted for help.

“He said he would kill me with a knife he had kept on the table if I didn’t shut up. He then brought out a black and white cloth, which he used to cover my mouth.

“He brought something which he rubbed on my private parts and his own as well.

“After he finished, there was blood everywhere. He brought water and said I should wash the bloodstains on my clothes. He gave me N100 to buy a drug to reduce my pain. He said I should not let my parents know that he had deflowered me. He said if they noticed, I should lie that it was a classmate that did it.”

The Junior Secondary School 1 pupil said the following day the suspect sneaked to her parents’ apartment and demanded the pants she wore the day he deflowered her.

“I asked him what he wanted to do with it; he said he only wanted to see it. I gave it to him, and he took it away. The following day, he returned it to me and said I should make sure I wear it.

“From that time, my private parts started itching me. I found it difficult to urinate,” she added.

Racheal said the suspect threatened to kill her if she mentioned his name to her parents as being responsible for her ordeal. The mother of the girl is currently devastated as she stated her tight work scheduled from 3am to 11pm must have given the landlord the chance to abuse the teenager sexually. A case of rituals is suspected.

 

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor, confirmed the incident, adding that the matter had been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh, has revealed why the party is known by many Nigerians as 'share the money party', a slogan many believe has to do with corruption. 

 

On Tuesday while speaking at a one-day workshop on external communication for PDP state and zone publicity secretaries at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, said the party represents national interests and that the slogan is because of the party's philosophy and ideology to put the interest of the people first and the developmental impact it attained over the years.

 

“The truth is that the reason why they call the PDP, share the money is for us in the party, our philosophy, our ideology has always been to transfer wealth from the public to the private sector and in doing that we have been doing mindful of the fact that it is only when there is progress in infrastructure development and other areas that you can impact positively on the lives of the ordinary people. That is why people say, ‘PDP share the money,” he said.

 

The PDP spokesperson who mocked the All Progressives Party (APC) told colleagues in the publicity unit that they should not be ashamed of the appellation. Metuh said in the next two years, Nigerians will  begin to ask the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), “where is the money?”

I'm not engaged - Zahra Buhari

 

 Some time ago, rumours made the rounds that President Muhammadu Buhari's daughter is engaged to the Gov of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai but she has come out to clear the air on the topic.

The president’s daughter, Zahra Buhari, has once again reacted to recent reports by a Kaduna state based newspaper, that Governor Nasir el-Rufai is set to wed her.
 

It will be recalled that news had gone round in October 2015, that the beautiful daughter of President Buhari would be tying the knot with Kaduna state governor.
 

Shortly after that, Zahra granted an interview to The Amba Imprint, where she clarified various rumours about her kicking out a woman from a boutique in Abuja and many more. When she was asked about marriage, she answered by saying: “Maybe I have a potential”.

However the marriage rumour resurfaced online last week and Zahra took to her Twitter page, notifying her followers by saying: “Just to make this topic clear. I’m NOT married yet, nor am I engaged to anyone. I hope that’s clear enough.”

Roli Bode George, the wife of PDP Chieftain, Bode George has assumed office as the acting Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA. Her appointment comes after the former chairman of the anti-drug agency Ahmadu Giade retired from office on Wednesday November 25th after serving the agency for 10 years.
