The Federal Government on Tuesday disclosed that about N54.8
billion has so far been recovered from some of the people being
investigated and prosecuted over the $2.1 billion arms purchase deal now
popularly referred to as Armsgate or Dasukigate, according Daily Times.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed made
the disclosure while answering questions from Journalists in Abuja.
The Minister, who did not disclose the identities of those who
refunded the said amount of money, also lamented that majority of those
being investigated over corruption in the country are already fighting
back in a hard and dirty manner.
Speaking on the amount that has been refunded, Alhaji Mohammed said, “what so far has been recovered from those being prosecuted in respect of Dasukigate is about N54.8billion”.
Prominent among those being investigated and prosecuted by the federal government in respect of the $2.1 billion arms purchase scandal are: Colonel Sambo Dasuki, rtd, the National Security Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan; Alhaji Haliru Bello Mohammed, Chairman, Board of Trustees of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and his son; Chief Tony Anenih, former BOT Chairman of PDP; Chief Raymond Dokpesi, founder and owner of DAAR Communications (owners of AIT and Raypower Radio); Chief Olisa Metuh, National Publicity Secretary of PDP; as well an APC chieftain, Brigadier General Jafar Isa, rtd. Alhaji Mohammed.
