A tiny baby pronounced dead after he was born prematurely has
stunned medical professionals by 'coming back to life' just hours before
he was due to be cremated.
A Mirror Online report shows that the newborn boy was born two months before his due date in China, near the start of January.
The boy's father, Jin Hua Lu, agreed to have his son kept in an
incubator at the hospital for 23 days, until doctors said his condition
was stable enough for the family to bring him home for Chinese New Year.
But just two days after coming home, Lu reported that the child
began showing signs of discolouration, after which he was rushed back to
hospital one evening.
The child was pronounced clinically dead after his heart had
stopped beating, and the parents gave up all treatment options. The baby
boy was wrapped in two blankets and kept in a freezer in the hospital
mortuary overnight, as the family prepared the cremation ceremony to
take place the following morning in the city of Jinhua, in East China’s
Zhejiang Province.
But relatives and morgue workers were shocked when they removed the child’s body the next day, only to see him alive and crying.
The baby, who had spent 15 hours in a freezer with temperatures of
-12ÂșC, was then sent back to the emergency room, where he is now being
kept under observation in an incubator.
Doctors said they had no way of explaining the "miracle", and that they are doing all they can to keep the child breathing.
