The Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command has confirmed
the release of the mother of the under-23 Coach, Samson Siasia,
disclosing how she was rescued from her abductors.
The mother of Nigeria’s Under-23 Coach, Samson Siasia, Madam Beauty
Siasia, abducted by unknown gunmen from her home on November 16, has
been released by her abductors.
According to reports, the 72-year-old mother of the former Nigerian
striker regained her freedom at about 1.30 a.m.last Saturday, 12 days
after her abduction.
She was said to have been abandoned on the popular East-West Road,
the major gateway linking the South-South to other parts of the country.
It was further learnt that her captors abandoned her on the major
road as they were allegedly being pursued by police operatives.
The abductors were said to have dumped their victim on the road as
the police were closing in on them to avoid being apprehended.
It could not be established if ransom was paid before she was freed
by her abductors but unconfirmed report said the kidnappers may have
agreed to collect the N600,000 Siasia had agreed to pay as ransom.
Police authorities in the state confirmed the release of Madam Beauty Siasia.
Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Mr. Asinim
Butswat, claimed her release was due to a hot chase by operatives of the
Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command.
Butswat said, “Madam Beauty was abandoned by her abductors
along the East West Road, at about 0130 hrs, November 28, 2015, due to
hot pursuit by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Police Command."
